Live check

Is this connection protected?

One press asks the XeroGent server where this page's request came from. Through the VPN it arrives from inside the server; otherwise it shows the network your device is really on.

Nothing is stored. Your address is shown with its last two parts hidden.

What you get

Everything a good VPN should do, and nothing it should not.

WireGuard encryption

The modern VPN protocol: ChaCha20 encryption, fresh keys every two minutes, and a connection that comes up in a fraction of a second.

Threat protection

Ads, trackers, malware and phishing sites are stopped at the VPN's own name server, before your browser even asks for them.

Save Data

One switch on the phone: video plays in standard quality and ads stay away, so a mobile plan lasts much longer.

Hotel and airport Wi-Fi

Networks that block VPNs usually still allow web traffic. XeroGent VPN has a second way in on port 443 for exactly those.

IPv6 without leaks

Your device gets IPv6 through the tunnel too, so nothing slips past it.

Split tunnelling

Send everything through the VPN, only chosen sites, or everything except a few. Your administrator sets it per device.

Your own usage

Data used by day and hour, ads and threats blocked this week, and the sites your device looked up today. Only on your device.

Speed test and leak check

Measure the speed through the VPN and confirm that your traffic really leaves from the server, right from the app.

Back by itself

After sleep or a dropped network the VPN reconnects on its own. If the server is ever away, your device keeps its own internet meanwhile.

How it works

Three steps, about a minute.

1

Get your link

Your administrator adds your device and sends you its link, or shows you a code to scan.

2

Install the app

XeroGent VPN for Windows or Android. On iPhone, the free WireGuard app.

3

Open the link

The app sets itself up with keys made on your device. From then on, one switch turns the VPN on and off.

Privacy

What we keep, in plain words.

Never kept

  • What you send and receive: pages, messages, files and streams pass through encrypted and are not stored.
  • Your device's private key: it is made on your device and never leaves it.
  • Your real address: the server keeps only enough to recognise a network, never the full address.

Kept, and why

  • The names of sites your device looked up, for 24 hours, so your app can show your own recent sites. Nobody else's device sees them.
  • Ads and threats blocked, as daily totals per device, for the weekly report in your app.
  • Data used per hour, so limits and your usage chart work.

Questions

Frequently asked

Who can use XeroGent VPN?

Devices added by an administrator: your company's, or the person who runs it for your family. They send you a link for your device; the app does the rest.

Will it slow my internet down?

WireGuard is one of the fastest VPN protocols. Blocking ads usually makes pages load faster. The app has a speed test, so you can see for yourself.

Does it work on hotel, airport and office Wi-Fi?

Yes. Where the usual VPN port is blocked, the app uses the second way in on port 443, which such networks almost always allow.

What does threat protection block?

Ads and trackers, and sites known for malware and phishing, at the VPN's own name server. Your administrator can switch each kind on or off for your device.

What happens if the server cannot be reached?

Your device does not lose its internet. On Windows the VPN switches off and reconnects by itself as soon as the server answers again. On Android the VPN switches off after three minutes without an answer.

Can I use it on more than one device?

Each device has its own keys and its own link, so ask your administrator for a link per device. One configuration used on two devices at once is noticed and reported.

How do I remove it?

Use Remove from this device in the app. Its keys are revoked on the server at once, so they stop working everywhere.
